New Patient Appointments—What to Expect
As a new patient of ours, your first appointment will consist of a comprehensive exam, review of medical and dental history and collection of dental records. Once all the data and necessary tests have been recorded, our family dentist will begin the consultation to work on your dental needs and wants together and discuss the different options and pathways you can take to achieve your goals.
At the end of the appointment, a scale and clean and fluoride treatment will be completed. Plan to reserve about one hour for this visit. The Importance of Preventative Care
For optimal oral health, we recommend coming in for bi-annual checkups and cleans. By visiting us twice a year, we can address any dental concerns whilst they are still minor, so they don’t become significant problems. During your checkups, we will be screening and testing for:
- Oral cancer
- Gum disease
- Damaged teeth caused by bad habits (e.g. grinding, smoking or nail biting)
- Sub-surface decay or infection
- Signs of dental disease
- Signs of systemic diseases (e.g. diabetes, fungal infections, gastric reflux, sleep apnea)
We believe that a preventative approach is best and provide an all-inclusive price for our returning patients. Know that your checkup consultation, clean, fluoride treatment and any necessary x-rays at your bi-annual checkup appointment will cost you no more than $175.
Anxious? We’ll Keep You at Ease!
For individuals that feel anxious, suffer from dental phobias or are concerned about what they’ll expect during treatment, relaxation and anti-anxiety options we can offer are happy gas (nitrous oxide) and pre-operative oral sedation medications. Gentle and safe, this anti-anxiety sedative eases our patients as they remain fully conscious throughout their procedure.
Nitrous gas is mixed with pure oxygen and breathed in through the nose, creating a relaxing effect throughout the entire body. One of the greatest advantages of using nitrous gas is it allows you to get the dental care you need—pain-free and relaxed.
